Course Description
Presenting at conferences is an important part of scientific communication and can considerably enhance a researcher’s career prospects. Addressing a large audience can be quite a daunting experience, especially for early-stage researchers. This course will provide basic principles which will help researchers create a good presentation and deliver it successfully.
After this course, you will have more information about the following:
- Guidelines on selecting a relevant conference
- Principles behind writing abstracts for conferences
- Planning and collating the content of the presentation
- Brief overview of how slides should be designed
- Advice regarding answering questions at the end of the presentation

Mr. Nicholas has more than 12 years experience in the academic publishing industry. At T&F, he was responsible for managing more than 30 journals and was also the founding member of Journal Development Team. He has been a part of several notable international organizations such as ALPSP, INASP, SSP, ISMTE, and EASE. He is also a Council Member of European Association of Science Editors (EASE) and Chair of the 2017-2018 Organizing committee of ISMTE.
